Questions and Answers

Q: "So you'll base your theory of god on this one fact?"

A: No. It's an informal test of the efficacy of prayer. If successful, it may be considered to provide indirect evidence of a "god".

Consider Carl Sagan's invisible dragon. The Prayer Challenge provides religion with an opportunity to show the world some footprints in the flour.

Q: "Where will results be published?"

A: Not a problem yet, since no-one is willing to take the challenge. If they do, all details will be published on this website, including the subject, the assessment date and the outcome.

Q: "I want to take the challenge. How do I contact you?"

A: Great! You can sign up by sending an email to 'challenge @ voriank.net' (without the quote marks and spaces). You agree to any emails sent to that address being published on this website, with email address and path redacted. Hate mail may be published in full.

Q: "Prayer doesn't work unless you please the lord and keep his commandments"

A: This is covered under para 2 of the challenge, which states the petitioners must be "practicing and sincere" religionists. A declaration to this effect is expected.

Q: "James 4:3 - prayer isn't real if spent on your pleasure"

A: Quite telling, isn't it?...that comparison of prayer with currency. The challenge seeks selfless assistance for an uninvolved third party. Benefit for participants is neither intended nor expected.

Q: "YOU Are A DEMON!!"

A: That's not a question. And no, I'm not a demon, so you can stop emailing to tell me that.

I see no evidence "demons" exist, either.

Q: "It might not work without faith"

A: Yes, exactly. If you don't have faith that prayer can achieve this...why on earth are you praying?
